Supporting marriage equality

Western Victoria Primary Health Network has the established values of respect, connect and lead. As part of these values Western Victoria PHN holds equity for all people at its core.

Western Victoria PHN considers that the fundamental human rights principle of equality means that civil marriage should be available, without discrimination, to all couples, regardless of sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Western Victoria PHN also recognises that discrimination can result in significant health issues, especially impacting on mental health, and supports moves to eliminate it in all forms.

If you or someone you know is distressed contact can be made with Lifeline on 131114. If you know someone who is being victimised because of their sexuality, we urge you to contact Victoria police. The police have issued a statement indicating that they will provide support and assistance to the LGBTI community through appointed Gay & Lesbian Liaison Officers.
