Board Changes and Opportunities

This week we welcome our newly elected Director, Dr Jon Barrell, who brings 33 years’ experience as a rural GP in Daylesford and Trentham.  He is also a Conjoint Senior Clinical Lecturer in the School of Medicine, Faculty of Health at Deakin University. We are pleased to have Dr Barrell join the WVPHN Board and bring his extensive experience and knowledge and we are very much looking forward to working with him.

The recent retirement of a WVPHN Director has also created a casual Director vacancy for a term to the Company’s 2020 Annual General Meeting. Nominations for the Elected Director casual vacancy are open to Company Members (to find out more about becoming a member click here). National Obesity Strategy Input

The Australian Government Department of Health invites you to give your own, or your organisation’s, views on what a 10-year strategy should focus on to reduce the number of people who are overweight or obese in Australia. Participation for the consultation process is open until 15 December 2019.

Recognising Important Dates

WVPHN would also like to acknowledge and remind Health professionals that today (20 November) is World Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Day (COPD) day. Lung Foundation Australia is encouraging those living with COPD to reach out and connect with support services and resources to help understand the condition and improve wellbeing.
