CEO Primary Matters – 3 April 2024

Welcome Craig

Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) is delighted to announce that Craig Wilding has been appointed our new Chief Executive Officer. Many of you may know Craig as his career spans over 20 years of senior and executive leadership experience in health care settings across western Victoria.

Most recently, Craig has had an esteemed and enduring career with Grampians Health, in which he has held positions including Director Medical Administration, Workforce Planning and Engagement, Executive Director – Primary and Community Care, as well as his current and most recent position, Chief Operating Officer – Community and Aged Care, a large and diverse portfolio. His expertise in strategic planning, operational efficiency, and stakeholder engagement has led to significant advancements in healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.

WVPHN Board Chair, Professor Susan Brumby, expressed the Board’s enthusiasm for Craig’s appointment saying:  “Craig’s extensive experience and empowering and innovative leadership make him the ideal candidate to lead our organisation into the future. We are confident that under his guidance, WVPHN will continue to excel in delivering high-quality services and addressing the unique needs of our communities.”

Craig will commence at WVPHN on Monday 6th May 2024.

Insights surveys reminder

A quick reminder to GPs and Allied Health professionals in western Victoria about the current Health Insights survey we are conducting. If you have not yet completed our surveys, please note that it closes on 15 April 2024.

Both surveys are de-identified.   Those who complete the survey are eligible to go in the running for an Apple watch.  Links to the surveys are in this newsletter.

Health Updates and Education series

WVPHN has taken the initiative to bring health professionals together to hear the latest on health issues that are impacting our communities.

WVPHN, along with Barwon South-West Public Health Unit and Grampians Public Health Unit, is holding a series of online health updates and education sessions.

The first session will be held on Tuesday 23 April and will be hosted by Barwon South-West Public Health Unit.  More information and registration details are in this newsletter.
