National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week

Next week is National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week, running from 11-17 November. It has been almost two years since the introduction of the National Cervical Screening Program therefore, all women should have had a screening under the new system and now be in the new Program.

This year, the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation’s (ACCF) key message for the week is it’s just “5 minutes of your time, for 5 years peace of mind”. The most important question of all to ask your patients is: Are you up-to-date?

The ACCF’s mission is to see cervical cancer eliminated in Australia by 2035. The tagline “5 minutes of your time, for 5 years peace of mind” is to remind women that if they haven’t already done so, to put themselves first and make sure they are up-to-date with their cervical screening.

Health professionals can find more information on cervical screening on the HealthPathways website including Red Flags, Assessment, Management and Referral resources. More information, including resources and events happening during the week, can be obtained by visiting the ACCF website.
