Introducing Our New Look Advisory Councils

Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) is delighted to announce the members of our new-look advisory councils who will have an important role in helping guide our future work and commitments.

WVPHN has appointed a total of 44 advisory council members following public expressions of interest (EOIs) in September and October 2023.

Our Clinical Advisory Council comprises 23 members representing a cross-section of primary health professions from western Victoria. The Community Advisory Council represents various demographics of healthcare clients and their families and carers and currently has 21 members.*

WVPHN updated our advisory councils following a review that identified a need to expand the size of the advisory councils to be more representative of our diverse community and enable WVPHN to draw from a wider range of skills, knowledge and lived experience. There will also be a more flexible structure to address specific topics as needed.

Together, the councils form a panel of participants from which WVPHN can draw advice and feedback on projects and programs specific to members’ professional and/or lived experiences and knowledge. Selected members will meet at least four times a year as advisory groups..  A combined meeting of all members will be held twice a year.

WVPHN received a strong response to its EOIs for the two councils. In reviewing the applications, WVPHN selected applicants who not only fitted the professional and lived experience profiles but also represent the various types of communities and locations within western Victoria. Our Board of Management officially endorsed the applicants at its February 2024 meeting.

*Please note, WVPHN is yet to fill all places on the Community Advisory Council.  and will seek to recruit further members in coming months to ensure all demographic areas are represented.
