Inviting General Practices to participate in a free Family Violence Training Program

What is the A-LIVES Training and Support Package?  

Designed for general practice, Family Violence A-LIVES (Ask, Listen, Inquire, Validate, Enhance Safety) Training and Support Package is at the heart of Western Victoria Primary Health Network’s (WVPHN) mission to equip primary healthcare professionals with the skills necessary to offer more effective support to their patients who are experiencing violence in the home. The training and support package aims to foster a healthcare environment where patients feel seen, heard, and safely guided towards the help they need. 

Practice Benefits

Specialised Training: Designed expressly for the unique challenges faced by general practice health professionals. It is an innovative approach designed by a GP for GPs, embodying a holistic method to empower healthcare professionals in addressing family violence with their patients. 

Legislative Compliance: Gain proficiency in the Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS), the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS), and understand your responsibilities under the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM), ensuring you’re well-equipped to support individuals at risk. 

Special Incentive: Participate in our program receive a $2000 payment as recognition for the commitment your practice makes. This gesture acknowledges the effort required to facilitate this critical training, offered at no cost to your practice.

Who can apply?

This opportunity is open to any general practice located within the WVPHN region.

We welcome applications from both of the following groups: 

  • First-Time Participants: General practices that have not received the WVPHN Family Violence Training and Support Package during the period from 2019 to 2024.  
  • Returning Participants: General practices that have successfully completed the Family Violence A-LIVES Training Package or Pathways to Safety Program previously and wish to refresh their team.

Applications need to be submitted by 5pm Sunday 16 June 2024.

Future Opportunity

WVPHN’s Family Domestic Sexual Violence (FDSV) Initiative in 2024 

Our free and incentivised Family Violence A-LIVES Training and Support Package serves as a gateway to participating in the trial of additional training and support tools. Later this year, general practices will have the chance to test new tools specifically designed to address sexual violence and child sexual abuse disclosures, as part of the Family Domestic and Sexual Violence Initiative. 

Further details about this opportunity will be made available later in the year. Upon completing the A-LIVES Training and Support Package application form, you will have the option to express interest in receiving more information about this forthcoming opportunity.
