The Board of Western Victoria Primary Health Network is pleased to announce the appointment of Leanne Beagley to the position of Chief Executive Officer beginning Monday 22 May.

Until 2016, Leanne was the Director, Mental Health and Drugs in the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, and has previously held senior executive roles in a range of different health services, including Austin Health and Eastern Health.

“Leanne is an experienced leader in healthcare who is excited about the opportunity to create lasting change in primary health care.

“Leanne brings a strong record of stakeholder engagement and considerable experience in dealing with complex issues in health care,” said Board Chair Lynne McLennan.

Leanne has worked in the allied health sector in child and youth clinical mental health settings in Melbourne. She holds clinical qualifications in Occupational Therapy and Family Therapy, a Masters in Business Leadership (RMIT) and has recently submitted a PhD (Psychology) research thesis in organisational performance and culture.

“The Board is confident that using her extensive experience in the health sector, Leanne will lead Western Victoria PHN to achieve its two key objectives, which are to improve the:

  • Efficiency and effectiveness of health and medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and
  • Coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time,” said Lynne.

"I am tremendously excited to be joining the Western Victoria PHN team at such an important time and looking forward to getting to know communities and working together with services across western Victoria to improve health and health care for everyone,” said Leanne.

Leanne holds a number of Board of Director roles in not-for-profit settings and has most recently been consulting to various community and health services in areas of corporate and clinical governance, organisational performance and the effective management of risk.

Following her commencement, Leanne will be based from the Geelong office.
