Primary Care Mental Health Hubs Coming to Western Victoria

Western Victoria PHN (WVPHN) welcomes news that two new mental health hubs will be set up in our region as part of the Federal Government’s $26.9 million commitment to creating 15 mental health response clinics in Victoria.

Alongside the other five PHNs in Victoria, WVPHN has rapidly mobilised to establish the hubs.  We are working closely with primary care services, hospitals, the Victorian Mental Health Taskforce, the Victorian Government and Federal Government to identify the most suitable locations for the hubs.

The project is part of a wider strategy to enhance mental health support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mental health issues don’t discriminate. The new services are aimed at supporting anyone in our community who needs support, particularly those people who have never before experienced mental ill-health and are facing growing challenges due to the pandemic.

The hubs will offer multidisciplinary teams of mental health workers, including psychologists, mental health nurses, social workers, and alcohol and drug workers to provide extra support during the pandemic.
