Christmas and the Summer Holidays
As we come to the end of another busy year, I would like to wish everyone a happy and relaxing Festive season and New Years break. The summer holidays are a period to reflect on the year that was, but also a time to rest, replenish and reset so that we can continue to strive for a healthier western Victoria in 2025.
This will be the last edition of Westvic News for 2024, the first for 2025 will come out on 22 January, but please keep an eye out for health or emergency alerts from us over the intervening period.
We will be closed for a short period over Christmas, with our organisation going on break at 2pm Tuesday 24 December and reopening at 9am on Thursday 2 January 2025.
WVPHN’s 2024 Training Wrap Up
Every year our Workforce Development Team puts on a huge amount of training for health professionals in western Victoria. This year they’ve organised 136 different events that have included 236 training sessions. We’ve put together a brief overview of this year’s training offerings and we’re also seeking your feedback on what training topics you might like to see in 2025 – you can find the article and survey here – we’d love to get your feedback to further tailor our training opportunities.
We’ve also just released a short video from our biggest training event of the year, the 2024 Primary Care Conference, which you can watch below.
A-LIVES Research Published in the AJGP
Finally, I would like to congratulate WVPHN’s Primary Care Projects Team, who have had research conducted on our A-LIVES training package published in the Australian Journal of General Practice (AJGP). A-LIVES aims to upskill general practices with the skill and knowledge to better respond to Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence. The study, which was authored by Dr Melinda Gill and Louise Greenstock, wouldn’t have been possible without the practices that signed up for the training, so thank you to everyone who participated. You can read more about the study and find links to the AJGP article here.
