2025-2028 Health Needs Assessment

In November 2024, Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN) completed and submitted to the Commonwealth our 2025-2028 Health Needs Assessment (HNA). Undertaken every three years, the HNA provides an analysis of qualitative and quantitative information that informs decision-making on WVPHN’s response to addressing gaps and need in western Victoria.

You can find the 2025-2028 HNA here. Photo of a group of people.

This document has been developed to share key findings with WVPHN’s key stakeholders and partners, so that we can work collectively to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of those living and working in western Victoria.

As a reminder, WVPHN’s priorities, as set by the Commonwealth, include: population health, mental health, aged care, alcohol and other drugs, digital health, First Nations health and workforce. We also have additional regional priorities that we focus on, including: people with disability, young people, women and children, access to Allied Health, and coordinated and integrated care.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed feedback to the HNA, your contributions have been enormously important in shaping this document, and we greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to provide feedback.

National Aged Care Advisory Council and Mark Yates

I would like to congratulate Associate Professor Mark Yates on his recent appointment to the National Aged Care Advisory Council. Mark is the Director of Clinical Studies at Ballarat Clinical School at Deakin University and has clinical roles in the Grampians Region Cognitive Dementia and Memory Service (CDAMS), and as a Geriatrician with the Grampians Health Sub-Acute Service. Many of the WVPHN team have worked with Mark, particularly around dementia services and programs, so we’re absolutely delighted to see his expertise recognised.

Social Media Use Survey

Finally, we’re currently running a survey to better understand how our communities and stakeholders use social media so that we can better communicate with you.

In the almost 10 years since WVPHN was founded, there have been many changes to the social media landscape. We want to ensure that how and when we use social media is still meeting your needs.

If you have a couple of spare minutes, we’d love your feedback. Find the survey here.
