16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign led annually by UN Women. It runs every year from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).

We support 16 Days of Activism every year because we’re committed to fostering a health system that actively contributes to the prevention of family, domestic, and sexual violence (FDSV).

As part of this commitment, WVPHN has been a member of the Communities of Respect and Equality (CoRE) Alliance in the Grampians region since 2017 and joined the Respect 2040 Partnership in the G21 region in 2023. These memberships reflect WVPHN’s dedication to promoting gender equity and respectful relationships across the communities we serve.

Armstrong Creek headspace

I am delighted to report that construction of a new permanent headspace facility for young people in Armstrong Creek is currently underway. It will replace the temporary site in Central Blvd, Armstrong Creek. Operated by experienced mental health provider Stride Mental Health, headspace Armstrong Creek is providing services to support mental health, physical health (including sexual health) and alcohol and other drugs for young people.

Torquay Medicare Urgent Care Clinic

Last week, ForHealth, in partnership with Surfcoast Medical Centre, was announced as the provider for the new Torquay Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (MUCC).

Following a 2025 Federal Labor election commitment, WVPHN undertook a rigorous tender process to establish an MUCC in Torquay.

The new Torquay MUCC will be open seven days a week and will initially commence at ten hours per day, building up to 14 hours per day by March 2026.

You can read more about the announcement on our website.
