Western Victoria Primary Health Network’s (WVPHN) supported After Hours telehealth service for communities across the region, currently provided by Intu Healthcare, will no longer be available after 18 January 2025. People who wish to access medical advice and care over the phone can instead contact Nurse-on-Call from 19 January 2026.
The dedicated phone number for Nurse-on-Call is 1300 60 60 24 and is available for health-related issues 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Serious medical conditions may be transferred to Triple Zero (000).
The Nurse-on-Call service is a trusted government-funded health nurse triage helpline ensuring the community can access the medical attention they need outside of business hours.
Nurse-on-Call provides health information and advice based on the caller’s symptoms. Registered nurses conduct a triage and provide advice on the most appropriate type of care, including information on services that are open, nearby or can be accessed virtually.
“Nurse-on-Call is an excellent 24 hour service for people seeking medical help, but it is one of a few options that members of the community have. We also support Medicare Urgent Care Clinics and After Hours GP clinics. Information on these services can be found on our website,” said WVPHN CEO Craig Wilding.
“All urgent and after hours medical services in our region play a crucial role in supporting the local community by ensuring people can access urgent but non-emergency care they need when they need it – ultimately minimising unnecessary impacts on local emergency departments.”
In a medical emergency, please call Triple Zero (000).
