As part of our commitment to restoring health equity for First Nations People living in our region, Western Victoria PHN (WVPHN) has developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
The plan was developed in consultation with Aboriginal community members and organisations across western Victoria with a focus on hearing their stories and gathering information about their experiences. This information has been consolidated to provide future directions for WVPHN and our primary health care providers.
The RAP:
- outlines practical actions that WVPHN will take to develop stronger relationships and enhance respect between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians within our organisation and local communities
- identifies clear actions with realistic targets that will aid in embedding cultural change within WVPHN
- creates opportunities and acknowledge the special contribution that local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make to the region and to our organisation.
