Western Victoria PHN will commission Commonwealth funding for the provision of mental health and AOD treatment services for the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Islander people in Western Victoria.
Funds will be apportioned in collaboration with the eight Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) in the region.
Services will align with the Fifth National Mental Health Plan to target an appropriate balance of clinical, cultural and spiritually informed mental health and AOD service activities (1).
Commissioned activities will be underpinned by:
- Western Victoria PHN needs assessment
- Local consultation, and
- Self-determination as recognised within the Fifth National Mental Health Plan as being key to overcoming disadvantage for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (1).
