Previous Project ECHO Network – Movement Disorders Series

The Project ECHO Movement Disorders Network was established to build specialist knowledge in supporting patients with movement disorders, and build the capability of people living with complex movement disorders to better manage their condition. The Network was part of a series of Project ECHO programs delivered by Western Victoria Primary Health Network (WVPHN). Project ECHO - Persistent Pain logo

The ECHO Movement Disorders Network was part of a pilot project to give specialised care for people living with movement disorders. It was delivered in partnership with South West Healthcare, Wimmera Health Care Group, Rural Northwest Health and Grampians Community Health.

The ECHO sessions aimed to build the knowledge, skills and confidence of health professionals working in the field, with a focus on support for the Movement Disorder Nurses stepping into new roles.

ECHO participants:

  • Learnt about developing a Movement Disorder model of care.
  • Undertook a comprehensive assessment for patients / Identifying appropriate evidence-based screening and assessment tools.
  • Worked with a multi-disciplinary team – maximising the team’s input.
  • Improved their understanding of interdisciplinary care.
