General Practitioner Dinner and IAR-DST Workshop – Horsham – 20 August

Western Victoria Primary Health Network extends an invitation for you to join us for a professional dinner. This event aims to connect General Practitioners, fostering discussions on recent advancements in the field and providing a platform for networking.

The evening will feature a presentation by a Cardiologist from the region and participants will have the pleasure of indulging in a two-course meal with beverages kindly sponsored by Lake Imaging. 

Prior to the dinner event, you’re invited to participate in an incentivised training for the  Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST) training workshop. 

The IAR-DST is an initiative of the Australian Department of Health that has been developed through Australian and international best practice standards and advice from Australian leading experts in mental health assessment. .

The IAR-DST training will assist GPs and mental health clinicians to determine the most appropriate level of mental health care (the five levels of care) for their patients.

Training participants will: 

  • Learn about the principles that underpin the national approach to stepped care in mental health
  • Be able to apply the IAR Guidance in practice settings
  • Be able to determine appropriate regional services that patients can be referred to
  • Better understand how the IAR can function as a connector to local mental health services, improving service coordination and system integration in western Victoria
  • Offer choice for GP’s in mental health assessment, referral, service navigation, care coordination, treatment and support for their patients.


  • A one-off reimbursement of $300 will be available for GPs only on completion of the training (please note, reimbursement is not available for GPs or clinicians working in Adult Mental Health Centres or Aboriginal Medical Services already funded by the government)
  • RACGP and ACRRM points will be applied for
