Dr Ruth Bollard - General Surgeon – Breast and Endocrine Specialist

Ruth trained in the UK at world class internationally renowned breast units, during which time she gained extensive experience in reconstructive breast surgical techniques. Ruth then worked as a consultant breast breast surgeon in the UK for five years moving to Australia in 2006. Ruth is trained in the Oncoplastic approach to treating Breast cancers (using advanced plastic surgical techniques to maximise cosmetic outcomes in breast conservation surgery) therefore able to offer patients more options, which can be less invasive, less expensive, and less traumatic for the patient. Ruth is the only Grampians based surgeon with Advanced Scope of Breast Practice credentialing.

Participants would understand the changes and advances in modern breast cancer surgery and the options available to patients for their cancer surgery
Participants would understand the updated approach to management of the axilla in breast cancer surgery
Participants would be better equipped to support and advise patients on the cancer journey
This activity has been accredited for 4 (Category 2) points as part of the RACGP QI&CPD program in the 2017-19 Triennium.
