National Services
National Dementia Helpline – Run by Dementia Australia. Provides information and advice, emotional support and guidance, and will connect you to support services and programs. Call 1800 100 500 (free call), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Dementia Support Australia – A national advisory service for families and carers of people with dementia. The service provides confidential advice, assessment, intervention, education and specialised support. Call 1800 699 799 (free call), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Carer Gateway – An Australian Government initiative providing services and support for carers including peer support groups, tailored support packages, counselling and access to emergency respite. Call 1800 422 737, 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
My Aged Care – Provides information about and access to Australian Government-funded aged care services and supports for individuals over the age of 65 years and their carers. Call 1800 200 422, 8am-8pm Monday to Friday or 10am-2pm Saturdays. If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander aged 50-64 years, you can access My Aged Care.
NDIS – Provides coordination and funding for supports and services for people aged under 65 years who have a disability caused by a permanent impairment. The impairment may be intellectual, cognitive, neurological, sensory, physical, or psychosocial. Call 1800 800 110 8am-8pm, Monday to Friday. If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander aged 50-64 years, you can access NDIS.
