Childhood Immunisation

Western Victoria boasts some of the highest childhood immunisation coverage rates in Australia thanks to the dedication of our immunisers and the wider primary health care community.

However, it is important not to lose momentum and continue working toward 100 per cent coverage rates for children up to the age of five years in all communities in our region.

Working with local immunisers

Western Victoria PHN (WVPHN) supports our local immunisers to actively work with patients and embed systems to ensure all children are followed up for timely immunisations, as per the National Immunisation Program.

WVPHN’s expert immunisers use the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) 11A reports and Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) 11A project reports to identify discrepancies in the data and detect children requiring immunisations before the AIR age cut-off date.

Our immunisers will then contact local immunisers directly for support and follow-up of these children.

PHN immunisers are not available for general calls. For general support, phone the DHHS support line 1800 882008.
